The season begins Friday night for the Charlottetown Islanders. The Islanders host Moncton at 7:00 at Eastlink Centre, and then Halifax is in town Saturday for a 3:00 start.

Eric Gelinas is making his case with Montreal to stay in the N-H-L. The defenceman scored the lone goal for the Canadiens in a 4-1 home loss to New Jersey. Gelinas is at camp on a pro tryout. Number 1 draft pick Nico Hischier scored for the Devils. It’s his second pre-season goal.

This weekend is Homecoming at UPEI! Saturday is packed with games from Women’s Rugby and Men and Women’s Soccer. On Saturday evening, it’s the UPEI Basketball Green vs. White Inter-squad Showdown. Admission is by donation of non-perishables to the UPEI student foodbank. And on Sunday, UPEI Women’s Hockey plays in O’Leary as part of the Kraft Hockeyville celebrations.
The Holland College Hurricanes Men’s football team will look to go 1-1 on their season when they hit the road to square off against the UNB – Saint John Seawolves this Saturday at 1 p.m.
