PEI’s Brad Richards has a new job. He’s joining the front office of the New York Rangers, as he and Brian Leetch have been named Hockey Operations Advisors.
The Boston Red Sox needed 19 innings and six hours to beat the Blue Jays. Hanley Ramirez drove in Mookie Betts with a single as the Red Sox edged Toronto 3-2 in the second-longest game ever at historic Fenway Park. Meanwhile, Baltimore edged the N.Y. Yankees 7-6. Both series resume Wednesday night.

members who have been selected to the training team in preparation for the 2018 Special Olympics
Canada National Summer Games. The Team PEI 2018 roster consists of 45 athletes, 14 coaches,
and 7 mission staff competing in the sports of 5-Pin Bowling, 10-Pin Bowling, Athletics, Bocce, Golf,
Powerlifting, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Soccer, Softball, and Swimming. 5-Pin and 10-Pin Bowling will attend the Special Olympics Canada National Bowling Championships being co-hosted by Charlottetown, Summerside, and Tyne Valley, PEI from May 14-20th, 2018.

Venus Williams has done it again. The 37-year-old Williams reached her third major semifinal of the season, edging two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (2) at the U-S Open. Williams will play unseeded Sloane Stephens in the first all-American women’s semifinal in New York since 2002.
The Holland Hurricanes have named Steve Gallaway their inaugural head coach for the newly formed ringette team at Holland College.
Gallaway has been coaching with the Charlottetown Ringette Association as well as the U-16 and U-19 provincial ringette team. He has held titles of Coaching Coordinator with the Charlottetown Association and Director of Coaching at the provincial level during those years as well.
