The Provincial Government says it’s following through on a budget commitment to provide funding to community groups that increase Islanders’ awareness of fresh, healthy local foods.
It’s called the Community Food Security and Food Education Program, and it’s aimed at helping community groups, schools, early child-care centres, and other organizations teach Island children about where local food comes from and how it is produced. Three schools will participate in a pilot project this coming school year.
The program has a budget commitment of $100,000 and the deadline to apply is October 16th.
