A cabinet shuffle in Ottawa, and it means a new Minister for Veterans Affairs.
The promotion of backbench M-P Seamus O’Regan as Canada’s new Veterans Affairs minister means Newfoundland and Labrador will continue to have a seat at the cabinet table.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau named O’Regan to the post in a cabinet shuffle that also moved rookie New Brunswick M-P Ginette Petitpas Taylor into the health minister’s job.
The shuffle was prompted by the resignation of Newfoundland and Labrador M-P Judy Foote.
The 46-year-old O’Regan, who is a former C-T-V television personality, was first elected in 2015 and is a close personal friend of Trudeau’s.
