Canadian driver and PEI native James MacDonald propelled himself back to the top of the 2017 World Driving Championship standings, overtaking Finland’s Mika Forss after winning two of Tuesday night’s five tournament races at Georgian Downs in Innisfil, Ont.
In addition to his pair of wins, MacDonald notched a pair of minor placings. The action shifts to Trois-Rivières, Que. Wednesday night for the fourth leg, and then the 5th and final leg is here in Charlottetown Friday night.

The top point-earner at the end of the five legs will be declared the 2017 World Driving Champion and win $25,000 in prize money.

The Holland Hurricanes men’s basketball program has added to its long list of Island talent with the recruitment of Isaac Cheverie.
Cheverie, who’s from DeSable,is coming off back-to-back championships at Bluefield High School. This past season he was named the league’s Most Valuable Player.
Cheverie, a 6’2, 185 lbs. shooting guard, is coming into the program with great spot-up shooting ability and has shown a strong work ethic in his short time with the Hurricanes.
