Dr. Hussam Azzam, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s new medical director, is one of 18 new physicians who began – or will soon begin – practicing on PEI since January.
The 17 other new physicians, a combination of family physicians and specialists, are taking over existing practices or filling vacant positions within the provincial complement.
Health Minister Robert Henderson says PEI is seeing an increased interest from physicians across the country. There are currently 246 physicians practicing across the province, which government says is the most ever for Prince Edward Island
