At the Canada Games, PEI’s track athletes have seen numerous personal best results established, and even a new Provincial record set. At this point in the Games, 6 personal best results have been established. The 4×100 team of Zach Wilson, Owen MacFadyen, Daniel Whalen and Damon MacDonald broke the old provincial record, advancing to the “A” final today.
The men’s Basketball team beat Yukon 88-63 and play Newfoundland and Labrador on Friday. The Women’s basketball team, plays Yukon Thursday.
The Women’s soccer team lost 6-0 to BC. They play Saskatchewan Thursday.
In men’s softball, we lost 15-6 to Saskatchewan and will play again Thursday in a placing game.
In women’s beach volleyball, PEI lost to New Brunswick Wednesday and play Saskatchewan Thursday. The men also lost to New Brunswick Wednesday and play Saskatchewan Thursday.
HP Bushido Dragjet, under the command of trainer Marc Campbell, captured the Wednesday night feature at Red Shores Summerside in 1:56.1. The newcomer picked up his second victory of the season. There’s live harness racing Thursday night at Red Shores in Charlottetown. First race post time is 6:30 P.M. for the 12-dash program.
The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Chicago White Sox 5-1 on Wednesday night. The Cleveland / Boston game at Fenway was postponed. The Tigers blanked the N.Y. Yankees 2-0 and Baltimore shutout Kansas City 6-0
Hockey Canada has wrapped up its five-day National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team selection camp by naming the 22 players who will represent the nation at the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup in August. Summerside native Noah Dobson has been named to the team as one of its 7 defenceman.
