PEI begins the Canada Summer Games today in baseball with a game against Ontario.
The boys basketball team plays Newfoundland-Labrador and the girls play New Brunswick.
PEI also competes in boys softball facing Nova Scotia and Manitoba in Winnipeg.

The Toronto Blue Jays four game winning streak came to a halt as they lost 7-2 to the Los Angeles Angels at the Rogers Centre. The Jays are 7 games out in the Wild Card race today.
Toronto also lost shortstop Troy Tulowitzki with a sprained ankle after he tripped over first base.
Kansas City has made it nine straight wins with a 4-2 victory on Boston.
The Yankees have moved a half game up on the Red Sox for first place in the A.L. East with a 6-1 win over Tampa Bay. Rookie star Aaron Judge got his league leading 33rd home run. Masahiro Tanaka struck out a career high 14 batters.
Texas routed Baltimore, 8-2.

The trade deadline is Monday and some deals swung on Friday.
Baltimore has added pitcher Jeremy Hellickison from the Phillies who also sent veteran Howie Kendrick to the Washington Nationals. The Phillies get outfielder Hyun Soo Kim from the Orioles.
The New York Mets have acquired pitcher AJ Ramos from the Miami Marlins.

American tour rookie Martin Flores leads the Canadian Open at Glenn Abbey by a stroke entering the third round. He fired his second straight 66 and is 12 under par.

The Charlottetown Islanders host the Fredericton Royals in a New Brunswick Senior Baseball League doubleheader at Memorial Field at 2.00. The Isles are 8-17. Fredericton is 12-12.

Harness racing at Red Shores in Charlottetown. The 6.00 program includes 14 dashes and a strong field in the 13th race feature that includes nine entries. Among them DGs Camme, Elm Grove Kaboom, Adkins Hanover and Forever Paradise.

A bit of shocker in Major Jr. Hockey. Longtime coach Danny Flynn is leaving the President Cup champion Saint John Sea Dogs to pursue other interests. There is word that Flynn was not seeing eye-to-eye with management.

Happy Birthday to PEI Sports Hall of Famer Ian “Tex” MacDonald. The former Charlottetown mayor was a stand out in softball, baseball and football as a player and coach in the 60’s,70’s and 80’s.
