About 200 of the country’s education leaders gathered in Charlottetown this week. Education ministers and educational leaders from coast to coast were hosted on the Island to talk about where public education in Canada is going.
Education Minister Doug Currie says there were several big initiatives discussed including; global competencies- looking at skills that students will require in the 21st century, student well-being, and innovation and technology.
Currie says there was also a framework released on best practices for transitions as students move from secondary school into college, university and the workforce.
He says all parts of the country are facing the same challenges , but Canada is a global leader and in PEI and across the country, there are wonderful things happening in education.
