Still maintaining his innocence, an Island man was sentenced Thursday in Georgetown Court to two years in jail for sexual assault and exposing himself to a child under the age of 14.
Paul Wilfred Manning was handed the sentence by Judge Nancy Orr after earlier being found guilty on 2 of 6 original charges during trial. The sexual assault offense involved touching the genital area of the child.
But as he spoke upon sentencing, the 47 year-old said the allegations against him are false.
Judge Orr pointed out the mandatory one year minimum sentence because the victim was under the age of 14 and she also placed Manning on 3 years probation upon his release.
Manning will also be added to the national sex registry.
