A new report says P-E-I’s animal protection laws are leading the country.
The report by the Animal Legal Defense Fund says the Island is in the top tier of rankings for protection measures including requiring veterinarians to report cases of suspected abuse.
P-E-I’s new animal protection legislation features laws that require those who use animals in agriculture or scientific research to comply with recognized codes of practice.
It also prohibits cosmetic surgery on animals, exotic animal circuses and the permanent tethering of dogs.
