An 18 year-old Cardigan man has been sentenced to 20 days in jail for refusing the breathalyzer after running a vehicle into a guardrail.
Brandon Jason Quinn was in court Monday and pleaded guilty to refusing to give police a breath sample in the early morning hours of April 30.
RCMP were called by a man who stated he had been chased by a van driving at high speed which forced his vehicle to hit a guardrail.
Quinn was the driver of the van and police suspected he had been drinking but the accused wouldn’t give adequate breath samples to the police.
The young man will serve his sentence on weekends, was fined $1,000 and ordered to pay a $300 victim surcharge.
He was also banned from driving for two years.
