Stratford Town Council is concerned with the number of speeding drivers in many neighbourhoods.
Mayor David Dunphy and council members are worried about safety for everyone in the community.
Town council has decided to tackle the issue about drivers going the posted speed limits by asking the RCMP to increase patrols in several areas of Stratford in order to monitor traffic safety.
Council believes the RCMP needs to do more to crack down on the speeding drivers. There is a concern patrols are lessening in the neighbourhoods.
Police fines are down in 2017 with 64% few tickets being issued compared to 2015 and 71% less than 2011.
Dunphy says Council’s traffic safety enforcement committee will work with the Mounties and discuss the decrease in tickets and the concern about safety.
Some of the areas where residents are seeing a rise in speeding drivers are in Beacon Hill, Eastern Realties, Marion Drive, Rosebank Road and the Mason Road and Kinlock Road.
