A myriad of festivals and carnivals happening this weekend across Prince Edward Island.
The Summerside Lobster Carnival continues tonight and Saturday with most events happening at Credit Union Place, along the waterfront at Spinnaker’s Landing, and at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The Morell River Run parade goes this evening at 6.30 and starts at Morell High School. Saturday includes family events throughout the day and the annual Morell Sportsman’s Dinner. Then Sunday it’s the coveted annual Rubber Duck Race at 5 p.m. at Rossiter Park by the Morell River.
The Town of Montague continues celebrating its’ 100th Anniversary and Canada’s 150th with the Montague Summer Days festival. Things get underway along the waterfront tonight with entertainment and the first part of the Montague’s Got Talent show. The town parade is at 11 Saturday morning followed by a free barbecue, then the annual Montague Raft Race, and more events and entertainment at the waterfront gazebo featuring such artsists as Raglan Road and The Stanfields. Sunday from 2 – 10 is the DiverseCity Festival presented by the Association for Newcomers…then it’s Lennie Gallant on stage Sunday evening and the finale fireworks display at 10.
The 41st annual Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival and Music Camp starts tonight 7 at the festival grounds located at 961 Veteran’s Memorial Highway on the way to Souris. A trad disco at 10:30 tonight will see a DJ spinning the hottest traditional tracks and then it’s world class musical performances right through til Sunday night, along with a Tunewriter and Songwriter Circle Sunday afternoon.
Saturday is also PEI National Park Day featuring the Great Island Sandcastle Competition at Brackley Beach starting at noontime. Registration starts at 11:30 and you can register as a group, individual, or family and prizes will be awarded at 3. Yoga On the Beach happens at Stanhope Beach with sessions beginning at 9:30 in the morning.
