Summerside Police say a man was assaulted with a wrench in the downtown area of the city Monday morning.
Shortly after 10 AM, Summerside Police responded to find an injured man who told police he had just been assaulted by another man with a metal object. The injured man was bleeding from his head area and was transported to hospital by ambulance.
Within a couple of hours, police located and arrested the suspect in this matter and he has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon. The weapon alleged to have been used was a wrench, which was recovered by police when the suspect was arrested.
The victim was treated at the hospital for the injury sustained to his head and he has been released.
The suspect, a 25 year old Summerside man, remains in custody and faces a court date on August 15th.
