A Chilean Navy training ship called the “Esmeralda” will be in port in Charlottetown on Wednesday.
It’s a controversial ship because of its ties the Augusto Pinochet regime in Chile in the 1970’s. Amnesty International says it was used a torture ship with up to 100 political prisoners who were subjected to hideous treatment between 1973 and 1980.
The tall ship will arrive during the day and will be available for deck tours on Wednesday from 2-6 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The tall ship departs from Charlottetown on Friday evening.
Note there is limited parking the area where the Esmeralda will be docked.
