An attempt is being made to save the Sherwood Fire station or Fire Station 2 as its called in Charlottetown.
Ward 10 City Councillor Terry Bernard brought up the issue at the July public meeting yesterday.
He says it would make sense to keep the fire hall which is located on St. Peters Road as it would help keep response times in place.
The City also Station 1 located downtown on Kent St. that will remain open.
A new fire station is to be built ion Malpeque Road near Sherwood Road which will help better serve growing areas like Winsloe, West Royalty and East Royalty.
Bernard says the Sherwood station comes rent free to the City and has 38 firefighters.
He would like to see it stay open.
