The president and owner of a research and development manufacturing facility says the company has so far exceeded its expectations since opening last December in Summerside.
Nautican has announced it has completed the manufacture and assembly of its first complete Integrated Propulsion Unit (IPU), an Ocean Series Class 200 system, and it is ready to ship to an Alaskan client.
The facility’s first shipment, a set of rudders, was completed earlier this year and was delivered to Pacific Fisherman in Seattle, Washington.
Company president and owner, Elizabeth Reynolds-Boyd – formerly of Montague, says the short time since establishing her manufacturing facility in her home province has proven to be a positive and game changing decision.
Nautican has now installed specialized welding and manufacturing equipment and the facility has also received certification from the Canadian Welding Bureau.
