James Aylward has made it official.
The Stratford-Kinlock MLA is running for the leadership of the Island Progressive Conservatives.
It will be his second attempt at the leadership. He lost on the second ballot in the Febuary, 2015 leadership convention to Rob Lantz.
Aylward made his intentions known at Holland College before a large crowd, last night.
He’s the second MLA to announce he is running.
Rustico-Emerald MLA Brad Trivers announced he was running last week.
Aylward was critical of the Liberal government saying their arrogance is showing after ten years.
He promises to hold an inquiry into the e-gaming scandal if elected leader and then premier and also to hold another plebiscite on electoral reform.
He also says he will reform campaign financing with a ban on corporate and union donations. He says that will start with his own leadership campaign.
A new PC leader will be chosen in October.
