Queens District RCMP responded to a 9-1-1 call on Sunday evening just after 6.00 about two swimmers in distress in the waters off Grand Tracadie Beach.
Two women aged 20 and 28 ran into trouble while holding onto an inflatible device.
Strong winds was a key factor. The women arrived back on land across from the main beach safely just as first responders arrived.
The North Shore Fire Department borrowed a fishing boat to bring the women ashore. They were not injured but were checked out by parmedics with Island EMS.
The RCMP remind you to play it safe in the open water and to use caution when attempting to swim in poor weather.
