DID YOU KNOW: Approximately 1200 lobster fishers on PEI load their boats, and leave the harbour on Setting Day at (April 30th) at 6 am in hopes of filling their traps. Each fisher has 274-300 traps they license to catch.
You can buy lobster out of season! Spring season ends June 30 but lobster is available for special occasions or a delicious every-day meal year-round. Lobster is low in fat and carbohydrates and high in protein, and an excellent source of vitamin B12 and heart-healthy Omega-3. It takes 5 to 7 years for a lobster to grow to legal size in the ocean. A lobster at legal size will weigh approximately 1 pound and will take about 20 minutes to boil.
