The province has approved a $3-million loan to support a Charlottetown scrap metal business in its efforts to reduce the amount of waste going into provincial landfill sites.
Clinton Myers and John Ross and Sons recently purchased A&S Scrap Metal. They’ll be getting a new shredder and other equipment to separate ferrous metals in cars and other machinery. Those separated components will have a much higher value and reduce waste. The remaining components will be baled and re-sold rather than shipped to landfills.
