The death of a student rugby player has prompted his high school to withdraw from the Island’s schools’ rugby league for the season.
Eighteen-year-old Brodie McCarthy died from a brain injury sustained during a rugby tournament in Summerside.
Montague Regional High School’s boys and girls’ teams have withdrawn from their leagues for the season. The P-E-I School Athletic Association has also cancelled or postponed rugby games that were scheduled for this week.
