- Vegas and San Jose are now down to a best-of-three. Martin Jones made 34 saves and four different skaters scored as the Sharks blanked the Golden Knights 4-0 to even their Western Conference semifinal at two games each. Game 5 goes Friday back in Vegas.
- The Tampa Bay Lightning are up 2-1 on the Boston Bruins after picking up their second straight win. The Lightning beat the Bruins 4-1 in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series.
- The N-H-L has suspended Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson three games for an illegal hit on Pittsburgh’s Zach Aston-Reese. The league announced the suspension one day after Wilson broke Aston-Reese’s jaw with a violent collision near the Washington bench in the second period of Washington’s 4-3 Game 3 victory over the Penguins.
-
Fernando Romero kept the Blue Jays scoreless while pitching into the sixth inning of his major league debut, giving the Twins a 4-0 victory over the Jays.
- Mookie Betts and Edwin Encarnacion are the latest major leaguers to homer three times in a game this season. In Betts’ case, it’s the second time he’s done it since opening day. Betts launched three solo blasts while going 4-for-4 to lead Boston past Kansas City, 5-4. Encarnacion tops Cleveland with nine home runs after slamming three more in a 12-4 rout of Texas.
-
Elsewhere, it took 12 innings for Detroit to get past Tampa Bay 3 – 2…and the Yankees blanked the Astros 4 – 0.
- The Winnipeg Jets look to take a 3-1 lead in their N-H-L second-round series with Nashville when they host the Predators tonight.
- The Washington Capitals look to put the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions on the ropes when they visit the Pittsburgh Penguins for Game 4 of their second-round series. The Capitals are up 2-to-1.
- The Toronto Raptors host the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight in Game 2 of their N-B-A Eastern Conference semifinal. The Raptors are down 1-0 in the best-of-seven series.
- The Toronto Blue Jays will make up a pair of rained out games with a doubleheader today in Cleveland. The Jays could have all-star third baseman Josh Donaldson back in their lineup from the disabled list. Toronto placed Donaldson on the 10-day disabled list on April 11th with right shoulder inflammation.
- The C-F-L draft gets underway tonight and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have the first pick. Hamilton received the first overall pick in a trade last night with the Montreal Alouettes.
