Solid-packed ice in the Gulf of St. Lawrence is delaying snow crab fishing season for Island fishermen.
While the ice started to move from the gulf in early March, strong winds in mid-March pushed it back.
Conditions are slowly improving but the Coast Guard says ice-breaking operations around New Brunswick’s Acadian Peninsula will take another five to seven days.
Snow crab fisherman are monitoring the conditions on a day-to-day basis.
