Queens District RCMP got two reports Thursday of people losing large sums of money to scams.
One was a Cornwall resident who was persuaded to send over $12-thousand to someone who represented themselves as an employee of the Canada Revenue Agency. If you receive a call, voice mail, or email from someone claiming to be from the CRA and requesting personal information, or that you send money, don’t do it. Contact the CRA directly if you have any questions.
In the other case, a Stratford resident sent over $85-thousand to an individual who they had met on an online dating/companionship website.
