The UPEI women’s basketball Panthers Cinderella story continues. The Panthers stopped Cape Breton, 78-73 to advance to the AUS championship game today facing Acadia.
UPEI was led by rookie star Reese Baxendale with 24 points. Jenna Mae Ellsworth added 18.
Acadia made it by downing Saint Mary’s, 65-43.
UPEI hasn’t won the Atlantic title since 1998.

Holland College is into the ACAA men’s final again.
The Hurricanes ran over Mount St. Vincent, 93-79 in the semi-finals led by Jace Colley with 33 points.
The Canes will meet Crandall of Moncton in the final at the Dal Agriculture Centre.
The women’s Canes fell 65-44 to Mount A in the semi-finals. Jenna Macinnis had 14 points in the loss.

The Island Storm playoff chances increased with a 115-108 win over last place Cape Breton in the NBL. Franklin Session led the way with 29 points and 8 assists.
That’s four straight wins for the Storm.

PEI`s Eddie MacKenzie is 0-1 at the Tim Horton`s Brier in Regina losing 12-7 to Reid Carruthers of Manitoba. PEI plays Quebec and Northern Ontario today.

Yarmouth got by the Summerside Western Capitals, 3-1 in Maritime Jr. hockey. Andrew Martell scored the game winner in the second period. Brodie MacMillan had the Caps goal.

Acadie Bathurst edged Moncton, 5-3 in the Q. Defenseman Noah Dobson with his 15th goal and 2 assists. The Summerside native is tied for second in scoring amongh defensemen with 62 points.
Jeremy McKenna scored his 33rd goal for Moncton. The Summerside winger is 11th in Q scoring with 70 points.
Chicoutimi doubled Halifax, 4-2.
Rouyn-Noranda dropped Cape Breton, 5-2.
Victoriaville stayed hot with a 7-3 win in Saint John.
