The Nova Scotia and PEI fishermen’s associations met with Northern Pulp last week and suspended any further meetings.
They suspended meetings until an alternative to the proposed plan to pipe pulp mill effluent directly into the Northumberland Strait is up for discussion.
The associations have been firm on their “no pipe” stance and say they are frustrated at the lack of an alternative option. The fishing organizations point to what they suggest are large gaps and questionable credibility in the science provided by Northern Pulp.
