Ottawa and PEI have signed a bilateral agreement — outlining how the Province will invest $20-million in federal funding earmarked for home and community care, and mental health and addiction services.
The funding will be spread over 5 years and go towards having paramedics provide supports within home and palliative care; expanding the use of digital health records; providing mental health supports and services in schools, and creating a province-wide mobile mental health crisis program.
Premier Wade MacLauchlan and federal Health Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor signed the agreement on Friday.
A subsequent agreement will be signed in 2021 for approximately $25 million for another five years.
