A coalition of six minor sport group users has been looking into a report that was released by a task force that was commissioned by the City of Charlottetown to look into a new multi-purpose arena facility.
The sport groups consist of minor hockey, figure skating, ringette and speed skating associations.
They want City Council to add an Olympic size ice surface a regular size rink.
There are two aging arenas in the City currently. Simmons Sports Centre and the Cody Banks Arena.
The minor sports groups say those ice surfaces would need to be replaced.
Brian Matheson, President of Sherwood Parkdale Rural Minor Hockey says an additional ice surface is desperately needed.
The groups say they are rely a lot on ice times outside of the city because the established arenas are so busy.
The sport groups have sent letters to Charlottetown City Council and the Province on the matter.
