A licensed medical marijuana producer on the Island has sold three-quarters of its business to a U-S tobacco leaf merchant.
Charlottetown-based Canada’s Island Garden sold a 75 per cent stake in the firm to Canadian Cultivated Products, a subsidiary of Alliance One International.
Alliance One C-E-O Pieter Sikkel says the acquisition is part of the company’s efforts to branch out into higher-margin, fast-growing agricultural products like cannabis.
