The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a panel discussion on the state of PEI’s education system — challenging the status quo of that education system.
Chamber members have been raising concerns about K-12 educational outcomes as well as how prepared students are for post-secondary education and the workplace.
About 150 people attended the event at the Rodd Charlottetown.
Some of the themes that came out of the discussion were the negative effects of social promotion of students; the importance of literacy and numeracy skills; the need to foster critical thinking and soft skills; and the benefits of student mentorship.
