The Trudeau government is reversing changes made by the Conservatives in 2012 that resulted in a lot of confusion over which fish, or fish habitats, must be protected.
Fisheries Minister Dominic LeBlanc says the government is also spending nearly 300-million dollars over the next five years to enforce new laws protecting fish habitats.
The PEI Fishermen’s Association is applauding the changes, saying it strongly supports the preservation of the independence of license holders in commercial inshore fisheries.
