Subway Restaurants on the Island have served it up for food banks across PEI.
The company has donated over $5800 raised from the recent World Sandwich Day when they offered Islanders a buy one, get one free deal to help keep food bank shelves stocked in Prince, Queens, and Kings Counties.
Chris Wright, Director of Operations for Subway Restaurants on PEI, says this is the third and most successful year for the fundraising initiative and with the help of their customers, they were happy to do it.
Wright says the $5800 translates into 17,000 meals when Islanders have to turn to the food banks, particularly in the middle of winter.
The Island franchises are owned by Irwin Dawson, who presented the cheque with Wright, to Charlottetown Food Bank manager Mike MacDonald.
