The Chair of the Poverty Reduction Advisory Council says the Council’s 12 members bring a variety of experience and knowledge to the table.
Adventure Group executive director Roxanne Carter-Thompson is the Council Chair. She says the council will play a very important role in developing the provincial action plan focusing on housing, food, education, employment, community capacity building, and health.
Islanders will be able to offer input through a Community Partners Meeting; survey, community focus groups and 6 public meetings. Those public meetings are set for late May, but the consultation period starts early next month.
The poverty-reduction action plan is expected to be completed in the fall.
