Three arrests have been made by the RCMP in connection with a violent home invasion Monday night in O’Leary.
At about 7:00pm, two men wearing masks got into a home and confronted the two females who lived there.
Police say one of the intruders was carrying a hammer, while the other had a knife. One of the victims was struck in the head several times with the hammer. The suspects took some cash from the victims and fled the home.
The victim who was struck with the hammer was taken to the Prince County Hospital where she was treated. She was later released from the hospital. The other victim wasn’t injured.
An initial search of the area by the Police dog didn’t turn up any of the culprits, but since then three men, two of them aged 16, and one 20, have been arrested separately. The two 16 year-olds have been released from custody and face a court appearance in March.
The 20 year-old remains in custody.
