The group that helped organize the Three Rivers Plebiscite on Amalgamation is ecstatic about the turnout and results of the vote.
Spokesperson Sylvia Teasdale says that never in their wildest dreams did Unincorporated Islanders think they would see a vote count of 1250. The vote was overwhelmingly against amalgamation with 1174 “no” votes and 76 “yes” votes.
She says the group will meet in the next week to plan their next step.
Teasdale says they consistently heard from voters that they didn’t even know the unincorporated areas were included in the amalgamation proposal.
