The Tignish Legion is planning an apology after a Sikh man was asked to remove a religious headdress at the Royal Canadian Legion branch on Wednesday night.
One man was wearing a small turban and refused to remove it when the situation got out of control.
He was one of party of three that included another Sikh man who did not wear a turban.
They say racists slurs were directed at the two men.
Legion President Stephen Gallant says a meeting was held Thursday for membership who were told that the Legion’s policy is that headwear worn for religious reasons is exempt from a no hat policy.
