Charlottetown MP Sean Casey has announced funding from the New Horizons Seniors Program.
That Program promotes “positive aging” by supporting seniors’ volunteerism and encouraging them to be active in their communities.
A number of organizations here on the Island are receiving funding through New Horizons to help with their programming.
They include “Recreation PEI” for its ‘Zoomers on the Go!’ project focussed on fitness training and physical activity; “PEI Senior Citizens’ Federation” for a program that develop new social networks for seniors; the Alzheimer Society of Prince Edward Island for their ‘Diversity 101’ project where seniors involved with the society will create a new educational program to support LBGT seniors; the Arthritis Society of Prince Edward Island is receiving $15, 467 for their ‘Steps with Seniors’ active living projec; Prince Edward Island Curling Association; and Voluntary Resource Council.
