The Provincial Government says it will operate four government-owned retail locations for recreational cannabis and allow online orders for home delivery.
Finance Minister Heath MacDonald made the announcement Tuesday as he outlined a list of measures being taken by the government in advance of the legalization of recreational cannabis later this year.
Macdonald says that later this week a Request for Proposals will be issued for 4 retail location sites in Charlottetown, Summerside, Montague and West Prince.
MacDonald says the province is entering into agreements with three companies to supply legal and regulated product.
The minimum age will be 19, and adults will be allowed to publicly possess up to 30 grams of lawful dried cannabis.
