The Halifax Mooseheads stayed hot with a 3-2 clipping of the Charlottetown Islanders in overtime. That’s 7 straight wins for the best team in the Q. Raphael Lavoie scored twice for the Herd including the winner at 2.35 in overtime. The Islanders held a brief 2-1 lead late in the third before Halifax tied the game power play in the last minute.
Cameron Askew and Keith Getson scored the Islanders goals.
Mooseheads goalie Blade Mann-Dixon made 40 saves.
Halifax moves 8 points up on the 2nd place Islanders in the battle for first in the Martimes.
The Islanders visit Moncton on Sunday.

The St. F.X. X-Men maintained a tie for first in AUS men’s hockey with a 5-2 win over the visiting UPEI Panthers. Gabe Guertler and Beau McHue scored for UPEI. The Panthers have only 5 wins in 21 games.

got the winner in the 2nd.
UNB is tied with X for first after a 6-3 victory over Dalhousie.

The Island Storm lost 119-113 in Sydney to the Cape Breton Highlanders in NBL basketball. DuVaughn Maxwell with 35 points for the Storm which lost its 3rd in a row and is 4th in the Atlantic at 8-7.
The Storm is at Halifax tonight.
Cape Breton outscored the the Storm 40-37 in the final quarter.

Kierra Rigby had a big night with 26 points as the UPEI women’s Panthers stopped Saint Mary’s, 68-64 in the AUS. UPEI is 4-5.
The men’s team fell to 0-9 losing 86-68 to the Huskies.
