It is not too late to get a free flu shot if you haven’t had one yet.
PEI’s Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Heather Morrison says there have been 64 cases of influenza on the Island so far this flu season, with three outbreaks at long term care/community care facilities , 17 hospitalizations and three deaths.
The actual number of cases is likely quite a bit higher as most people just stay home to recover.
The flu vaccine this year has coverage for two influenza A strains and two B strains.
A reminder to wash your hands frequently and if you do get sick, cough into your arm, and stay at home from work or school so you are not spreading the flu.
