The City of Charlottetown is looking at a recommendation to build a new 5,000 seat multi-use sports and events arena.
A task force has recommended the idea of a double-rink complex that would attract more national and regional events.
Mayor Clifford Lee maintains the City is only looking at the proposal and there is no commitment until funding is found.
PEI is to host the 2023 Canada Games which could lead to funding through the federal government although some are saying there is no longer a legacy fund associated with the Games.
Lee says City Council will not look at proposal until all funding implications are known.
