The Charlottetown Islanders closed out the 2017 portion of their schedule with a 7-1 loss in Acadie-Bathurst to the Titan.
They also have made two trades.
The Islanders are sending Gregor MacLeod and Matthew Grouchy to the Quebec Remparts for 18 year old centre Derek Gentile who is from Sydney, Nova Scotia. He has 14 goals and 33 points in 37 games for the Remparts Charlottetown will also get a 3rd round draft pick in 2019. The trade has not been made official yet by the QMJHL. MacLeod was suited up for Charlottetown yesterday but Grouchy was not dressed. Gentile did not dress for Quebec as the Remparts lost 6-1 to Rimouski.
Charlottetown has also acquired Boston born forward Cameron Askew, a 20 year old, who has 13 goals and 24 points fpr Shawinigan who got him just a year ago from Moncton. He’s 6-4 and 212 pounds.
Summerside defenseman Noah Dobson had a goal and two assists in the 7-1 victory for the Titan. Jordan Mahar had a goal and three assists as the Bathurst won for the first time in 6 meetings with the Islanders. Sam Meisnenheimer had the only Charlottetown goal.

Moncton dropped Saint John, 5-1. Summerside’s Jeremy McKenna scored two short handed goals and had an assist.

Halifax moved 5 points up on the Islanders in 1st place in the Maritimes Division with a 4-1 win over Cape Breton. The Islanders now 3rd and 2 points back of the Acadie-Bathurst

The Island Storm lost for a third time this season to the Halifax Hurricanes, 123-116 in the NBL. That ends the Storm’s five game win streak at home. The Storm is 8-5.
