An Island man told a provincial court judge Tuesday that one free beer played a role in his impaired driving conviction.
The 64-year old appeared before Judge John Douglas in provincial court in Charlottetown and pleaded guilty to failing the breathalyzer on October 21st.
Before hearing his sentence, the man said he was sorry for what he did and said it was “a free beer” that got him there.
That drew a response from the judge, who commented that it turned out to be a very expensive beer.
