Federal Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen says he expects the Prince Edward Island government to take action on problems in a business-related immigration program.
Hussen says he’s concerned by allegations that foreign students in P-E-I have been pressured to return a portion of their wages to business immigrants.
The Canadian Press reported last month on three international students who said they were required to return a portion of their pay to owners of businesses set up under the ownership stream of the provincial nominee program.
One student says he was fired when he refused and the other two say they agreed to give back a portion of their income in cash.
