P-E-I’s housing construction market is on a roll.
The province says housing starts are up 43.7 per cent compared with last year, and building permits have increased 23.8 per cent.
The Construction Association of Prince Edward Island says its members are looking to hire up to 400 additional workers to keep up with demand.
General manager Sam Sanderson says the industry is working with the provincial and federal governments to improve skills training for youth, advertising in other provinces to find workers and helping repatriate Island workers.
