A 27 year-old Oyster Bed woman is facing impaired driving charges after crossing the Confederation Bridge and colliding with an RCMP police cruiser.
East Prince RCMP say they received a report on Saturday of a possible impaired driver in New Brunswick who was approaching the bridge.
Police units responded to the Confederation Bridge and were met by the suspected vehicle which abruptly turned into the oncoming lane of traffic causing a minor collision with a police car. An officer was then able to get the vehicle stopped.
The female driver was subsequently arrested and taken to the East Prince RCMP detachment where her breathalyzer readings were twice the legal limit.
She is scheduled to appear in Summerside Provincial Court on January 18th to answer to the charges.
