Island Senator Diane Griffin has been elected as the chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture and Forestry.
Griffin says she views the committee as a place for farmers, foresters, conservationists, and rural Canadians.
Griffin says that having worked in conservation for all of her career, she is excited to review policies and legislation related to farmlands and forests.
The committee has produced reports on issues as diverse as bee health, bovine tuberculosis, and rural poverty.
