Cult leader Charles Manson, whose followers murdered actress Sharon Tate and six other people in 1969, has died at the age of 83.
A spokeswoman for the California Department of Corrections says Manson died of natural causes last night.
Tate, who was nearly nine months pregnant, was stabbed repeatedly in her Hollywood mansion, along with several of her friends.
Investigators later learned Manson sent a group of young followers to commit murders as part of a twisted plan to launch a race war.
